Medical Biology Learners Proudly Showcase Dissertation Research

Our talented learners on our BA (Hons) Medical Biology course took over the Boardroom to present their incredible dissertation research projects.

Their presentations not only impressed their peers but also left our Senior Management Team feeling inspired, showcasing the dedication, hard work, and exceptional research skills they’ve developed during their studies.

Each learner demonstrated an impressive blend of advanced academic theory and practical expertise across a diverse range of public health related matters.

Clare Symons, 34, from Burnley, chose to do her dissertation on tackling bacterial contamination in environmental and treated water sources.  She reflected on her time studying at BCUC, she said:

“The biggest thing is the friendships and family I’ve created. It wasn’t what I was expecting, I was just expecting to come in, get on with my work and keep to myself.

“The support has been next level as well, the level of knowledge from Samira and all my lecturers have been absolutely incredible, especially because Samira’s in the industry, her support has been invaluable.

“This route has been better for me than a traditional university, I’ve got four children so it’s much more accessible and personable. The cohorts are smaller and you get more one-to-one support.”

We are so proud of our learners’ hard work and determination. Katerina Gkzimpala, Lab technician at BCUC said:

“Watching them present their original research with such confidence and expertise is a reminder of just how bright the future of medical science truly is.”

Our BSc (Hons) Medical Biology programme is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) and delivered through our Lancashire & Cumbria Institute of Technology.

Learners benefit from industry-standard facilities, including state-of-the-art Containment Level 2 labs, and hands-on practical experience that prepares them for careers across healthcare, biomedical research, and laboratory science.
