Burnley College is excited to welcome Jason Faulkner as its new Principal and Chief Executive, marking the start of an ambitious new chapter for the college.
Jason brings extensive experience spanning education, industry-based partnerships, and the Armed Forces. Most recently, he served as the award-winning Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Education Training Collective in Tees Valley, helping to drive the group to its outstanding Ofsted rating earlier this year. His diverse background gives him a fresh outlook that will inspire and motivate both learners and staff. As Principal, Jason will play a key role in building on the success of the college’s leadership team and widening its strong connections with industry and the local community.
Focusing on partnership and innovation, Jason’s appointment emphasises Burnley College’s commitment to delivering incredible opportunities for every student. He will lead efforts to further strengthen relationships with employers and ensure students have the skills, confidence and ambition to succeed in their chosen careers.
Jason’s excitement about his new appointment is clear. He said:
“Burnley College feels like a place where my skills and experience align, and I can add real value. This feels like the right fit.”
“I am optimistic about the future and being able to share the skills I have developed with another college and the surrounding communities, and add value to their, and my, next chapter.”
Speaking about his previous role, Jason reflects on his passion for undertaking new challenges, adding that he is proud to have played such a substantial part in the Education Training Collective’s evolutionary journey. He said:
“I remember the previous chair of the governing board saying to me, ‘we are custodians of the college for a point in time and, as such, we should aim to leave it in a better place than we found it’.
“I always remember that and as I sit and reflect, I would like to think I have made a positive contribution.”
Looking back, for Jason, one of the biggest achievements, both personally and for the group, has been the turnaround of Redcar and Cleveland College. He said:
“That’s not just about the achievement data or student numbers. It is the work that has been carried out with supportive partners, the capital investments that have led to massive innovation at the college, and the relationships built with the local authority and employer partners.”
David Brown, Chair of Governors, shared his enthusiasm about the appointment:
“We are delighted to welcome Jason to Burnley College. His dynamic leadership and forward-thinking vision are exactly what we need to continue building an educational environment where every student and staff member can achieve their ambitions.
“We are confident that under his guidance, the college will reach new heights of excellence and further solidify its role as a cornerstone of the community.”
Burnley College continues to deliver excellent teaching and life-changing opportunities for its learners. With Jason at the helm, the college is set to build on its mission and drive forward bold new initiatives that benefit learners and the wider region.
