Employers working with Themis took part in a bespoke Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training session at Burnley College.
The interactive workshop offered businesses expert guidance on how to develop and maintain supportive relationships with apprentices and employees.
We welcomed Daniel Armitage, CEO at Neurosparks Business Solutions who worked with businesses including J&J Fire Engineering, Carvansons Ltd and Bright Futures Early Learning to provide expert guidance on how to develop and maintain supportive relationships with apprentices and employees. Dan covered topics including:
- Understanding neurodiversity (including autism, ADHD and dyslexia)
- Guidance on inclusive recruitment and onboarding
- Practical strategies to support neurodivergent employees in the workplace
This event marks the first in a series of training sessions run by Themis for employers, designed to enhance industry leaders’ knowledge in key areas including inclusive practices, artificial intelligence and coaching and mentoring.
The initiative also aims to upskill staff who are involved in recruiting and supporting apprentices, equipping them with the tools and expertise needed to set their apprentices on the path to success from the very start.
Dan reflected after the session:
“What really stood out to me was how much Burnley College values the employers they partner with – the people who quietly hold everything together behind the scenes for their apprentices.
“It’s refreshing to see an education institution that genuinely invests in supporting the supporters.
“I left feeling uplifted and proud of the direction we’re heading in – one where neurodiversity is not only recognised and understood but also celebrated.”
