About the course
The Access to HE Diploma in Psychosocial Studies is designed to prepare students for study at university level, particularly for degrees in psychology, sociology, counselling, social work, psychosocial studies, and other social science-related fields. The course develops the academic knowledge, research abilities, critical thinking, and study skills needed for successful progression to higher education.
Students will explore a wide range of topics including psychology, sociology, social psychology, child development, social inequality and counselling. Learners will complete a range of assessments, including essays, reports, presentations, case studies, research projects, and examinations, helping to build confidence in academic study and professional communication.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold GCSE or Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in both English and Maths at the point of enrolment, and evidence of these qualifications must be provided. Please note that some universities do not accept Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications and may require GCSEs instead. In addition, certain courses, such as midwifery, may require a GCSE in Science. It is the responsibility of applicants to check the specific entry requirements of their chosen university before applying.

Information About Fees
If you are aged 19 or over, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your tuition fees.
You don’t start repaying the loan until you earn over £27,295 per year (current threshold).
If you progress to university and successfully complete your degree, your Advanced Learner Loan for this Access course is written off in full.
This means you could study completely free, depending on your progression.
