Entry Requirements

BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering 

GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent) and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as Mathematics and English 

Other related Level 3 qualifications

Access to Higher Education Diploma from an approved further education institution

Relevant work experience

An international equivalent to the above qualifications.

Modules

The curriculum includes mandatory core units and specialist options to provide a comprehensive overview of mechanical engineering. Topics may include: Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Heat Engines, Production Engineering, Quality and Process Improvement, and Engineering Maths

Assessment

Assessed through a variety of methods including- Assignments, report writing, group and individual presentations, and exams.

Careers & Progression

The Level 4 units lay the foundation of learning by providing a broad introduction to the engineering sector as well as a focused introduction to electrical and electronic engineering. This develops and strengthens core skills while preparing students for more specialist subjects at Level 5 or to enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some personal responsibility.
