About the course

The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering for England (HTQ) is a work-related qualification for England, developed with employers and aligned with occupational standards. It provides technical and practical engineering skills for engineering roles and serves as a pathway for further study towards Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) or bachelor's degrees.

This version of the HNC is designated for England and is not available to be delivered in other countries, as per Pearson qualifications. 

Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ):

Approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), this qualification is recognised for its quality and relevance to employer needs. 

Entry Requirements

BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering 

GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent) and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as Mathematics and English 

Other related Level 3 qualifications

Access to Higher Education Diploma from an approved further education institution

Relevant work experience

An international equivalent to the above qualifications.

With a HNC in Engineering, you could earn a salary in excess of £28,000 across a broad range of roles through the Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing sector. You'll be eligible to apply for roles such as Design Engineer, CAD Engineer, Quality Engineer, Product Engineer, Project Engineer, Control Engineer.
