About the course
This is a 1 year pre-advanced level course that meets demand for skills in the fast-growing global Esports industry (the global esports market is valued at $2 billion). Esports offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning, skills which are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace. Learners must apply strategy, skill and teamwork to be successful. The course consists a breadth of transferable skills that enable learners to experience different areas of esports to aid their progression to employment, such as live stream broadcasting, developing an esports brand inc promoting brands via designing logos and merchandise, planning esports events, enterprise & entrepreneurship, nutrition & diet and designing an esports game. The skills acquired translate to other areas of business such as marketing, events and brand management. There are 7 internally assessed units assessed through a range of practical & portfolio work. The college works in partnership with Burnley FC as the pro team development squad, and compete as the Burnley FC Esports Academy Bees.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of two GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English Language OR a relevant Level 1 Diploma and a GCSE grade 5 in English Language
Modules
Learners taking this qualification will study 5 mandatory units: • Unit 1: Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments • Unit 2: Establishing an Esports Organisation • Unit 3: Streaming for Esports • Unit 4: Plan an Esports Event • Unit 5: Start an Enterprise in Esports and one optional unit from the following: • Unit 6: Design an Esports Game • Unit 7: Positive Health and Well-being in Esports.
Assessment
The course is 100% coursework and has no external assessment. Learners will produce analysis reports, presentations, pitches for business, logo and merchandise designs, YouTube tutorial videos, plans for events and live stream broadcasting as methods of assessment. Learners get ongoing feedback throughout the projects as well as summative feedback at the end of each unit. Learners receive ongoing formative feedback throughout their projects as well as summative feedback at the end of each unit.
Careers & Progression
Learners who complete this qualification alongside other Level 2 qualifications may progress to further learning at Level 3, for example the Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma in Esports or a Diploma in Esports alongside another diploma in a complementary sector. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills through a process of self-evaluation, practice and review. In addition to the sector-specific content available in this qualification, the requirements mean that learners develop the transferable skills needed to progress to further education and ultimately higher education and employment, for example communication, planning and managing projects and creative problem solving. The qualification also supports learners in becoming more confident in taking ownership of and responsibility for their own direction, work and choices.

Highpowered gaming PCs, mice, keyboards and latest gen consoles, studio lighting, casting mics, cameras and tripods.
Extra curricular activities
Learners on the course will be invited to join our Esports team competing in the British Esports Student Champs, and will have the opportunity for other roles during the events. There is also the chance to attend national Esports and gaming events. Regular industry speakers and workshops.
