About the course
This course will expand your photographic knowledge on equipment, techniques, development of ideas and studio lighting by completing a brief and set tasks every week. This will enable you to advance your own creative ideas and practical skills during the course by producing photographs inspired by establish photographers. This qualification is aimed at those individuals wishing to develop an understanding of photographic processes and the photo imaging industry. The qualification will also allow learners to understand how to manipulate images and explore this in more detail. During the course, you will have the opportunity to: • Explore photographic equipment, techniques, materials and resources • Develop and adapt photographic ideas • Location photography You will create a portfolio of images demonstrating the above course content. You will undertake research topics on different areas of photography. Your images may be used in an exhibition designed and planned by yourselves and presented in the local vicinity.

This course is suitable for learners who have completed a Level 1 Award in Photography and established/experienced photographers who want to further their skills.
The course is formally assessed throughout and there will be summative assessment at the end of the course. You will present an online portfolio, with the work produced over the course presented and exhibited. The portfolio will contain a collection of photographs and personal evaluations which all of these are formally assessed as the course progresses. Assignment work enables all learners to cover the course specifications and continuous feed back reflects on progress and achievement.
Careers & Progression
Learners completing this course progress onto the Level 3 photography course which begins in September. Learners will gain a good knowledge of how to work a camera, idea development and studio photography. These skills could therefore enhance applications to work in the industry.
A photography space several backdrops and photography strobes. As well as a darkroom for developing photographic paper and film.
Extra curricular activities
This course is not only about building your photography and digital skills but also about teamwork and many students go on together as a group to take further additional levels of courses through to the level 3. There is also the opportunity to present your photographs as an exhibition end of year.
