About the course

This pre-advanced level 1 course extends learning on the basic sewing techniques learned within the introduction course but could also be joined by learners who are already confident using a sewing machine. This course will teach you more about the use of sewing machines, such as your choice of needles, threads, fabric handling and the practical use of the seams and hem finishes you have learned. During this course you will be introduced to basic pattern cutting and adaptation, using your skills to create a basic garment which you will research and design yourself. Learners have the opportunity to challenge their learning further to create a second garment with additional independent work. Once completed you can further extend your learning by progressing to the pre-advanced L2 Dressmaking course which is a full one-year course beginning each September.
