About the course
This one year course will give you the opportunity to explore and develop skills in areas such Art and Design, Performing Arts and Music. The units you will study will cover a wide range of skills such as how to use a stimulus for a performance, performing music, creating mood boards and designing interactive presentations. Transferable skills will be developed in areas such as being organised, working with others and research skills as well as developing a personal progression plan in preparation for your next steps. Your assessments will be coursework based, both theory and practical. You will be expected to present information that you have gathered, keep a working logbook, record or reflective journal, take part in oral or written presentations as well as take part in role play, interviews and other activities. You will be assessed on the rehearsal process and final performance of any practical work.

A minimum of two GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language and/or Mathematics OR a relevant Pre-Foundation Learning qualification including GCSE grade 3 in English Language and/or Mathematics.
On this course you will be given assignment briefs to assess the grading criteria. Your assignment brief will direct you the type of evidence you will be required to produce which could include some or all of the following; Carrying out practical tasks Presenting information through oral or written presentations Rehearsal and performance Logbooks, records and reflective journals Role play, interviews and other activities. This will be assessed internally by your tutor.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may decide to progress onto a Level 2 Extended Certificate course, or Intermediate Apprenticeship. Careers that this course may lead to include Performer, Musician, Graphic Designer, Artist, Marketing, Photographer.
You will have access to laptops for theoretical sessions and the theatre and dance studio spaces for practical work.
Extra curricular activities
There are plenty of activities and visits to take part in that will help you achieve your ambitions. Past visits have included: West End Theatre trip to London with an overnight stay and two west end theatre shows and a workshop. Art galleries visits to London, Liverpool, Manchester, The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Harrogate Knit and Stitch and visiting local Historical sites, Community projects such as painting murals, working within the community to deliver creative activities. You will also benefit from a wide range of guest speakers to enrich the curriculum.
