About the course
This course covers the design process from design brief, design development, CAD and the manufacturing stages of prototype production. Study on this programme, develops your knowledge of supervision within the furniture industry and the skills to produce high quality furniture. Additionally, the course lends itself to those wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to progress into the manufacture of bespoke furniture manufacture.

Entry requirements
Successful completion of a Level 2 Diploma in Furniture Making or a relevant Level 2 Diploma with a Merit grade AND a GCSE grade 5 in English or Mathematics.
Assessment
Assessment is both practical and theoretical, involving five practical assessments and one theoretical assessment, externally moderated.

Extra curricular activities
The division is focused on links with the community and community projects, offering the opportunity for work experience for full time learners. All areas regularly host and compete in regional and national skills competitions with SkillBuild, SPARKS and HIPS. Other examples include: Employer sponsored Job of the Term awards, Construction site visits, Entry into national trade skills competitions, Excursions to national trade exhibitions, Voluntary building work, Visits to buildings of architectural significance
