About the course

The aim of the Choices programmes is to encourage and support students in their first year at college who may have high anxiety and or complex emotional needs who may find a full time course particularly challenging. The programme supports students to become confident individuals who are physically, emotionally and socially healthy at a range of levels. The programme is flexible in its approach to learning as our courses offer imaginative ways of developing and assessing students knowledge and skills development. Courses include either full first year support within a developmental programme or a bespoke programme within a vocational area with additional support in place. Students who know that they want to pursue a career in Construction Industries can apply directly to the Choices Construction Programme which focussing on the practical skills of the industry.

Assessment

Course work assessed via a portfolio with Maths and English through exams. Choices Construction will include practical assessments for each trade e.g brickwork.

Careers & Progression

Progression routes include a wide range of courses in Engineering, A Levels, Creative Industries and Computing, Health and Social Care, Nursing, Public Services, Sport & Fitness and Construction.

Additional Details

Extra curricular activities

Each programme included a range of activities that enrich the programme of study. This includes trips and visits and wider activities to support personal and social development and confidences . By including a carousel of activities throughout the year students develop a varied set of skills that can by applied to their own situations.
