About the course
Whilst on the course students will receive and complete a study skills unit with the primary focus of the course content focused upon Physiology including cell biology, human reproductive biology, anatomy and physiology of the human skeleton and muscles. In addition students will have the opportunity to study sociological perspectives, the sociology of health and illness, introduction to issues in health and social care.

Entry requirements
All applicants are required to have obtained GCSE/Functional Skills Maths and English in order to enrol on this provision.
Modules
Preparing students for study at university level is a key objective of the course particularly in the health and socials care professions. Research is a key aspect with students completing projects in both Physiology and Sociology. In addition students have the opportunity to study concepts and models of mental health, poverty in society and family structure. Students will engage in a range of diverse activities to include rat dissection and heart dissection.
Assessment
The Access to HE Diploma utilises a range of assessment methods to include, assignments, presentations and exams.
Careers & Progression
Successful completion of the Access to HE Diploma is Allied Health Professions provides students with the opportunity to access a range of higher education courses and ultimately to go into professional practice in a range of health and social related professions which include, adult nursing, children's nursing, midwifery and occupational therapy to name a few.
