About the course
As a student on this course you will develop a knowledge of business through the study of subjects including, being organised, working with others, branding a product, creating a visual display, presenting a business idea, contributing to running an event, recording income and expenditure, communicating with customers. This course provides understanding of working in the Business sector. Topics include: presenting a business idea, branding a product, contributing to running an event, creating a visual display along with others and being organised. You will develop key employability skills that will aid progression to further study or employment. You will be invited on trips to leading businesses to support your studies and you will be provided with opportunities to look at national and global businesses to enhance your CV as part of the course.

Two GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English OR a relevant Foundation learning qualification including GCSE grade 3 in English.
The assessment process creates a variety of opportunities to demonstrate your knowledge. Assessment methods include; reports, presentations and evaluative pieces. Role play activities are also incorporated into the programme, allowing you to demonstrate your newly acquired skills. You will also be assessed during practical sessions, supported by industry professionals. The set assignments are a natural continuation of classwork and our expert tutors will provide you with support to ensure you are given the opportunity to reach your full potential.
Careers & Progression
This course will prepare you with the knowledge and skills to continue onto a Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business or Apprenticeship in a business related subject. Popular career choices for our learners include going on to study and practice Law, Accounting, Marketing and Events Management
Extra curricular activities
Students are invited on trips to key businesses in Manchester and also take part in work experience to enhance their CV as part of the course. Other extra-curricular activities designed to enhance your studies include: Educational visits to regional institutions such as Media City in Salford and Blackpool Pleasure Beach. You will have the opportunity to take part in Barclays Money Week, a national event designed to promote an awareness of financial skills, V10 Award, where students will undertake 10 hours of voluntary activity with a local business
