About the course

This creative course combines practical, technical and academic projects such as producing advertisements, analysing and reviewing games and radio packages, video production and communication techniques. Assessment is via coursework, practical assessment and examinations. During this course, you will use high-specification software and top-the-range equipment to develop your skills as a media producer. Studies can range from topics including TV, film and video production, directing and scriptwriting. You will also have a number of opportunities to participate in activities that enhance your studies.

Entry requirements

A minimum of two GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English Language OR a relevant Level 1 Diploma and a GCSE grade 5 in English Language.

Assessment

Assessment is via coursework, practical assessment and examination in line with Edexcel board requirements.

Careers & Progression

On successful completion of this course you may decide to progress onto an Extended Diploma, Apprenticeship and then a Higher/Degree Apprenticeship. You will also have the opportunity to progress onto a wide variety of Degree courses. Careers that this course may lead to include Journalist, Media Producer, Director, Content Creator and the Games industry.

Extra curricular activities

There are plenty of activities and visits to take part in that will help you achieve your ambitions. Past visits have included: Residentials to Berlin, Paris and London, visits to the Warner Brothers Studios, Work Experience with the NHS Digital department and visits to cinemas and photography exhibits. You will also benefit from a wide range of guest speakers to enrich the curriculum.
