Student Success Story

Pamela Slack

Pamela, from Padiham, decided to return to education having spent 13 years as a teaching assistant. She has now graduated from her Foundation Degree which focused on supporting children and young people.

She praised the supportive tutors at BCUC:

“My tutor, Louise, and I developed a strong bond during my time studying and became like friends.

“I completed my GCSEs and Level 3 qualification at Burnley College, all while being a busy mum supporting a family. It is a fantastic one-stop shop for everything.”

Pamela gave this advice to others considering applying to BCUC:

“I had a lot of barriers because I didn’t have GCSEs in Maths and Science when I applied, but I never let that stop me.

“It can be a bit daunting at first to come back into education, but it’s such a proud feeling when you achieve the qualifications you set out to get.

“Just do it – you’ll get all the support you need!”

Pamela is now aspiring to become a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) teacher, supporting children and young people across the curriculum.
