As the Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition comes to a close, we’re celebrating all the incredible hard work and determination of our students across all competitions.
We proudly hosted three competitions, welcoming students from across the county to showcase their abilities in Sports, Health and Social, Early Years, and the Institute of Technology Day (featuring Digital and Engineering challenges).
Early Years Triumph
A huge congratulations to our eight-strong team of Early Years students who won their category, beating competition from colleges across Lancashire. Hosted at Lancaster and Morecambe College, students were presented with a range of tasks, demonstrating the skills, knowledge and professionalism needed in the early years sector.
As well as our student’s fantastic achievements, Zainab Noor received an award for excellence, recognising the outstanding quality of her work. All our students showed a great level of talent, commitment and professionalism.
Health and Social Care
The Health and Social Care on 11 March tested our students’ skill levels with a series of gruelling rounds. Our team did us proud and although they didn’t come away with a medal, they showed their true dedication and exceptional talent.
A big congratulations to Blackpool and Fylde College and Blackburn College for achieving joint first place.
The event was proudly supported by four expert judges from Lawwood Care Home, Pendleside Hospice, and Elisha House, whose extensive industry knowledge added real value to the competition.
Institute of Technology (IoT)
We concluded the competition series with the landmark IoT Day on 18 March, advancing the Digital, Engineering, and Health sectors that are vital to Lancashire’s growth.
We were the proud host venue for these competitions, bringing together learners from across the region for a day filled with exciting and innovative challenges. Our team of health students secured the runner-up medals, demonstrating outstanding teamwork and giving their absolute best in an intensely competitive field. Blackpool and The Fylde College and Preston College took the top spots on the day.
