Burnley College Welcomes Make UK to Strengthen Manufacturing Skills Pipeline

We were delighted to welcome Make UK, the leading voice for manufacturers to our campus to discuss the future of the engineering sector.

Darren Grantham, North West Membership Manager, and Dawn Huntrod, Regional Director North, met with Burnley College Principal Jason Faulkner for a strategic meeting focused on how the college can continue to support the vital pipeline of skills required by modern manufacturing industries. As a sector-leading institution, we remain committed to collaborating with industry experts to ensure our training aligns perfectly with employer demands.

A key focus of the discussion centred on the challenges of maintaining a highly skilled workforce, both within the manufacturing sector and at the college itself, to guarantee the consistent delivery of top-tier talent. The leaders explored how Burnley College can remain agile and responsive to the rapidly evolving and emerging needs of the industry. This includes a strong emphasis on advancing digital skills, which are critical for the next generation of manufacturing professionals.

Industry Engagement Specialist Glen Bullen led a comprehensive tour of our cutting-edge engineering facilities. The visit highlighted our state-of-the-art Engineering Workshops, alongside our advanced Automation, Additive Manufacturing, Robotics and CNC Suites. These industry-standard learning environments demonstrate exactly how we prepare our students to seamlessly transition into the modern workplace.

By working closely with influential organisations like Make UK, we ensure our curriculum remains at the forefront of technological advancement. We will continue to drive innovation in education, equipping our learners with the precise expertise needed to empower the manufacturing industry for years to come.
