An exceptional young filmmaker has been honoured at this year’s Moving Image Awards.
Charlotte Mack, 18, and a former student at St Christopher’s CofE High School in Accrington, saw off tough competition to claim the top prize in the competitive Music Video category, with judges praising her striking visual rendition of Paramore’s ‘(One of Those) Crazy Girls’ for being an accomplished, well-constructed production.
They commended Charlotte’s video for not only demonstrating excellent control in filming and editing, but also skilfully showcasing super energetic performances in a sharp, funny narrative about relationships.
Dianne Ambrose, A Level Film and Media Studies Lecturer, says that this win is a testament to Charlotte’s incredible work ethic and fantastic creative vision:
“Charlotte excelled in her A Level Media coursework while at Burnley College, and we are immensely proud to see her continue that success with this latest project.
“To be nationally recognised for her talent is a huge achievement. We can’t wait to see what she does next!”
Guests at the ceremony, held at BFI Southbank, heard from leading industry professionals including Becci Jones (Senior Editor at Silk Factory), Larushka Ivan-Zadeh (Chief Film Critic at Metro), and script editor Kate Leys in a spirited and inspiring masterclass panel prior to the awards presentation.
They remarked that the determination, enthusiasm and artistic promise demonstrated by all of the award winners speaks to a bright future for the UK film, TV and media industries.
Launched in 2014 in partnership with the British Film Institute, this prestigious awards ceremony annually celebrates the outstanding work of students completing Eduqas qualifications in Film and Media.
