Burnley College Sixth Form Centre students celebrate outstanding achievements at glittering Awards for Excellence ceremony

Inspirational students whose hard work, dedication and passion ensured Burnley College Sixth Form Centre achieve exceptional results in its A Levels, T Levels and Advanced Vocational courses have been honoured at the lavish annual Awards for Excellence ceremony.

The students celebrated their outstanding accomplishments with more than 170 family, friends, tutors and special guests who gathered at the glittering event hosted in the College’s £115 million town centre campus.

This year saw:

  • A 99% A Level pass rate
  • 60% of A Level students achieving at least one top A* to B grade
  • 85% of A Level students achieving at least one high A* to C grade
  • A 100% pass rate in Advanced Vocational subjects for the 20th consecutive year

Burnley College is still ranked the Number 1 College in England for results for 16-18 year olds in the Government’s National Achievement Rate tables.

Burnley College Sixth Form Centre A Level Alumna and previous Award for Excellence winner Lauren Molyneux joined Student Governors Eshan Bilal and Benji Crampton in addressing guests. Laura has recently graduated with an MA in English from the University of Leeds and is currently an Editor and Communications Lead.

Guests of honour included Chief Executive of Burnley Borough Council Lukman Patel, Leader of Burnley Council Afrasiab Anwar, Mayor of Burnley Coun. Raja Arif Khan, Mayor of Pendle Coun. Brian Newman, representatives of the Stocks Massey Bequest County Coun. Cosima Towneley and Paul Wright and Chairman of Governors at Burnley College David Meakin.

Entertainment was provided by talented Burnley College and Burnley College University Courses Dance and Performing Arts students.
