Burnley College Clarets Takeover 2025: A Day to Remember

Turf Moor came alive with energy, joy and pride as Burnley College joined forces with Burnley Football Club for the College Clarets Takeover. The fourth edition of this now-iconic event celebrated the shared spirit of Burnley and shining a spotlight on the exceptional talents of Burnley College students.

The takeover kicked off with activities in the bustling Fan Zone, where families and fans enjoyed a vibrant mix of entertainment. Live music performances from ‘Signals’ set the tone for the day, with singers and musicians showcasing their talent. Performing Arts students dazzled audiences with dynamic dance routines, bringing creativity and passion to the stage.

There was excitement for everyone, from free giveaways of merchandise, stickers, and badges to the unforgettable half-time kids’ penalty shoot-out, which brought cheers from the stands as budding footballers tried their luck on the pitch.

And, of course, at the heart of the day, the Clarets took on Millwall in a thrilling match that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, winning 2-1 and continuing the winning streak witnessed at College Clarets Takeovers since their inception. The electric atmosphere at Turf Moor was a testament to the unity and pride of the Burnley community.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Ashley Alderson, Head of Sport and Fitness at Burnley College said:

“The College Clarets Takeover truly exceeded all expectations. It’s incredible to see students, families and fans come together to celebrate our shared love for football and the local community. The performances, the energy and the smiles on everyone’s faces made all our hard work worthwhile. This event isn’t just about football; it’s about building connections, celebrating talent and building pride in our town. We couldn’t have asked for a better day!”

The event also highlighted Burnley College’s enduring commitment to providing students with real-world opportunities to showcase their skills while strengthening the bond between the College and local organisations. Initiatives like these allow students to turn their passion into experiences that make a difference while fans enjoy a day of fun and engagement.

Burnley College is committed to celebrating local talent and bringing the community together for more unforgettable moments in the future.
