Clearing is the process used by universities to fill remaining places they may have on their degree-level courses which are due to start in the autumn. It is often used by College and Sixth Form students when they make a final decision on their progression route after receiving their A Level or Advanced Vocational results and is also open to those returning to education who choose to apply for a place at university later in the academic year (outside the normal application dates).
