Neil Burrows Finalist in Prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards

Burnley College’s Director of Skills and Innovation, Neil Burrows, has been selected as a finalist in a prestigious national award for apprenticeship providers.

It’s the second national nomination Neil has received in the last 12 months for his tireless work promoting skills and apprenticeships throughout Lancashire and beyond.

Neil will be travelling to the glittering awards ceremony for the Annual Apprenticeship Conference (AAC) Awards in February, as well as being invited to a reception at the House of Commons.

He has been nominated in the keenly-fought Apprentice Champion of the Year category, being  described as “A champion of advanced manufacturing and engineering and a driving force for success”.

The awards celebrate the individuals and organisations whose commitment to skills training goes above and beyond.

Neil has spearheaded Burnley College’s drive to build close relationships with industry, as well as to ensure the campus has the same latest, cutting-edge technology you would find in modern workplaces.

I’m absolutely delighted to receive this place in the finals. I’m flattered too, but I can’t claim this is all my work.

Burnley College is passionate about ensuring we work with our learners to get the best results for them and simultaneously with industry so we can create workers ready to step straight from education into a career.

“I want to thank everyone in my team, throughout the College and beyond who’s joined us on our mission to ‘Build Futures and Change Lives’.”

It’s been an incredible year for awards at Burnley College, with their Apprenticeship arm, Themis winning the UK Apprenticeship Award and being Highly Commended for its Sustainability Green Initiative at the Education North Awards and Neil making the finals of the Skills Champion category of the national Enginuity Awards in May.
