Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Panto Perfection at Burnley College

We’re off to see the wizard!

“OH NO YOU’RE NOT!”

Oh yes they are!

Step into a world of magic with Burnley College Sixth Form Centre’s festive production of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. This enchanting tale, written by Nigel Holmes, based on the timeless classic by Frank L. Baum, will captivate audiences of all ages.

Bursting with colour, energy, and stacks of festive fun, this production promises an unforgettable journey down the Yellow Brick Road.

Get ready to meet Dorothy, our brave heroine, as she embarks on an adventure like no other. Swept away from her Kansas home by a cyclone, she lands in the mystical land of Oz, where she befriends a lovable bunch of characters—a Scarecrow seeking brains, a Tin Man longing for a heart, and a Lion in search of courage. These quirky companions will keep you chuckling throughout their escapades.

Prepare to be dazzled by stunning set designs and costumes. Every scene is a visual feast, meticulously crafted to transport you to the fantastical world of Oz – a testament to the hard work and creativity of our Creative Arts learners and staff.

Plus, audiences will be singing in the aisles with a selection of classic hits from The Proclaimers, Will.i.am, Slade and The Rembrandts.

Curriculum Manager for Performing Arts Samantha Allen, who is directing the family-friendly performance, said:

“Putting on a production like this gives students amazing insights into what a career in industry involves and they’re certainly rising to the challenge! It’s rewarding to see their skills and knowledge develop still further and their passion for performance and dance come to the fore.
“I’d encourage everyone coming to see the performance to make a note of the names of the students involved as I’m in no doubt you’ll be seeing them again in future on television and on the West End stage.”
