About the course
Covering a wide scope of sport and fitness, the course aims to give learners a work-like experience of the industry before progressing onto an Apprenticeship. Work placement at a local sport or fitness centre will provide a platform to practice new skills and may lead to a reference or extended placement and qualification. Learners will build on their professionalism with the course emphasising vocational learning which is specific to the sector. The course is designed to give you introductory knowledge of the various sectors including Sports, Coaching, Health and Nutrition and Fitness. Your studies will help you develop your self-confidence and wider knowledge of the Sports sector ready for progression onto an apprenticeship.

A minimum of two GCSEs at grade 3 including English Language and Maths OR a relevant Foundation Learning qualification including GCSE grade 3 in English Language. There may also be an additional assessment test.
The one year programme includes 10 foundation units including Getting People Active, Keeping Active and Healthy, Playing Sport, Coaching Skills in Sport and Working with Others.
The vocational qualification is assessed via coursework where you will create a portfolio of evidence to show your practical application of the units.
