About the course
The 18th Edition of The IET Wiring Regulations was launched on 2 July 2018. Also known as BS 7671:2018. From January 1 2019, it will be a requirement that all electrical installations designed after this date comply with BS 7671:2018, 18th Edition. There is a six month transition period for electrical contractors and electricians to get up to speed with the changes. The 1 day 18th Edition course will mainly focus on the changes to the 17th Edition since the third amendment plus how to navigate the latest blue book. The course is not designed to cover every regulation in the book, but you will learn to reference to the latest regulations. This course will cover :- Scope, object and fundamental principles Definitions Assessment of general characteristics Protection for safety Selection and erection of equipment Inspection and testing Special installations or locations Appendices Key changes to the 18th Edition include:- The Protection against over voltages - Clause 443 is likely to be overhauled. Protection against fire - Chapter 42 will be updated with extra information on arc fault detection. Electrical Embedded heating - Section 753 will be extended to include embedded electrical heating systems for surface heating and will include de-icing and frost prevention systems. Energy efficiency - There will be a brand-new section covering energy efficiency.
