About the course
Pharmacists play a vital role in improving patient care through the medicine and the information they provide. If you have excellent communication skills, have confidence to work with members of the public and feel you could be part of this exciting sector, then this Apprenticeship will be for you. You will learn how to process prescriptions, manage and control stock, dispensing medicines, provide advice regarding pharmaceutical materials under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Pharmacy technicians work with pharmacists to help prepare and give out prescription medication. You will take prescriptions over the phone and in person and will work with health professionals and customers.

A minimum of two GCSEs at Grade 5 or above. Applicants must be hardworking, reliable and motivated. As part of the interview process, Apprentices will undertake a BKSB assessment in English, Mathematics and ICT. Applicants who do not meet the exact entry requirements may also be considered.
You will be assessed through direct observation of your competency. You will complete a portfolio of evidence and successfully pass six online multiple choice tests.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this Apprenticeship you may progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Pharmacy Service Skills or you may successfully secure full time employment in the pharmacy industry as a pharmacy assistant or dispensing assistant.
