About the course
Learn about the history of photography and the transition from analogue film and the chemical process to digital photography. Read and analyse images and explore a range of media, techniques and processes from hand-rendered to digitalized technologies. Experiment with traditional techniques, using the photography studio and darkroom, then manipulate your work on a suite of iMacs using software such as Lightroom and Photoshop.

Assessment
Students are required to complete two assessment components. The Personal Investigation (60%) is coursework comprising a practical portfolio and a contextual essay. The Externally Set Assignment (40%) is a controlled, timed examination supported by preparatory work.
Assessment criteria focus on developing ideas through sustained investigation, exploring and selecting appropriate resources, recording ideas, observations, and insights, and presenting a personal, informed, and meaningful response.

Enrichment Activities
You’ll be able to visit galleries in London, Liverpool and
Manchester. Residential trips include locations such as Paris, New York,
Florence and London.
