Burnley College offer GCSE English and a full range of nationally recognised Functional Skills (FS) English qualifications and we are keen to ensure that we advise and support you to achieve the correct qualification to meet your specific requirements. Apply for English now and we will contact you to complete an initial assessment so that you can begin your journey to achieving a valuable qualification in English. FS English offers qualifications from Entry through to L2 and are based around improving reading, writing and Speaking and Listening skills. FS English focuses on the everyday skills of letters, emails, articles and report writing and analysis of non fiction texts. FS English is a good option for those studying other FE or University courses who need to improve their skills whilst gaining a qualification. Classes are two hours long and are offered at various days and times over the week. Our GCSE English Language qualification follows the brand new Edexcel specification and allows you to explore 19th Century literature as well as a range of non fiction texts and creative and transactional writing. Spoken Language skills are also covered within the course and are an important part of the overall qualification, giving you a fully-rounded introduction to the study of the English language.
