About the course
This course will enable you to develop an underpinning knowledge of health and safety legislation and its impact and assist your company’s safety management programme. You will learn how to assess workplace hazards, develop control measures and develop a basis for a future career in occupational health and safety. This course runs over ten weeks split into two five weeks delivery. The first week will focus on the unit NGC1 (management of health & safety). And the second 5 sessions will focus on GC2 unit ( Controlling of workplace hazards) and the GC3 unit (practicalities of health and safety in industry) which is the practical application. The NGC1 and NCG2 exam will be taken at the end of the 10 week training, you will then have usually 2 weeks after the exam to hand in your practical application.

There are no formal entry requirements for this couse however the programme is aimed at managers supervisors and staff with a broad understanding of health and safety.
The course is broken down into three units: Unit NGC1: Management of Health and Saftey looking at the policy, organising, planning and measuring elements. Unit GC2: Controlling workplace hazards within the workplace, transport, musculoskeltal, work equipement, electrial, fire, chemical and biological and physical and psychological. Unit GC3 Health and Saftey Practical assessment which will carried out within your current workplace.
There are two exams and one practical assessment.
