Student Success Story

Kian Wilkinson

“One of the tutors, Paul Bentley, encouraged me to consider the Level 3 Vocational Sport and Exercise Sciences.

“I’m so glad I listened to him because I’d never thought about a career as a personal trainer and it’s the perfect fit.”

Kian Wilkinson, 18, from Burnley, a former student at Haslingden High School and Sixth Form, achieved an impressive triple Distinction.

He was inspired at an Open Evening to apply to one of our BC Programmes, taster sessions for Year 10 and 11s, which gave him a real taste of what being a student at Burnley College is like.

Kian also made the most of the wide range of enrichment activities on offer alongside his course.

“Our icebreaker trip to Go Ape was memorable. It was a great way to get to know everyone in Sport.

“We also visited the University of Salford for a taster session focused on sports’ technology and their biomechanics laboratories, which was massively beneficial in supporting my learning.”

Kian progressed to Liverpool Hope University to study Sport and Exercise Science, taking the first step towards a fulfilling career as a clinical exercise physiologist supporting athletes with muscle and bone health conditions.
