I was worried about going into a College setting with school leavers but it wasn’t like that at all. It was a great adult environment.

Kayleigh, 37, from Haslingden fell into care work when her previous career as a bus driver came to an end. After having a baby, she needed a career that offered flexibility around her family.

After studying GCSE English and Maths Functional Skills, she embarked on her Counselling and Psychotherapy degree with the support of the BCUC Bursary, and received advice on her career pathway from our Student Services team.

Now Kayleigh is a District Nurse, aiming to specialise in tissue viability.

Kayleigh feels that this role is now exactly what she is meant to be doing and feels a great sense of job satisfaction.
