Jennah Malik, 19, a former student at Pendle Vale College in Colne, achieved an outstanding Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction* in the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Art & Design.

She took part in a variety of enrichment activities while at Burnley College, including sharing her passion for art by volunteering in local schools:

“I visited my primary school to run a series of art classes designed to introduce children to key techniques like shading with pencil and using oil, pastels and chalk to paint. 

“I’ve also been involved with the Young Arts Project in collaboration with Edge Hill University, creating a website filled with activities to give children across the country who wouldn’t otherwise have access to these types of programmes the chance to get creative.” 

Jennah found that from the very start of her Burnley College experience, her tutors encouraged her to be ambitious:

“The tutors and School Liaison Team were extremely helpful when it came to choosing what I wanted to study at college.

“They didn’t push me towards a specific route and made sure I knew what to expect from my course.”

“I really appreciated that my tutors were always willing to take the time to sit and brainstorm ideas with me – no matter how big or small. 

“There’s also so much on offer outside of your course. I spoke to staff at Camp America at our Freshers’ Fair and now I’m going to be a camp counsellor with them this summer!” 

Jennah progressed to the University of Edinburgh to study Fine Art.
