Hussna Shabbir, 20, a former student at Sir John Thursby Community College, achieved an exceptional triple distinction* in the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Biomedical Science).

She took part in multiple enrichment activities, including a trip to the University of Bradford to work on an organic chemistry banana oil practical in their cutting-edge laboratory facilities.

Hussna found this experience to be a real highlight of her time here at Burnley College, sharing that she really enjoyed her course.

Hussna progressed to the University of Lancashire to study Biomedical Science, where she’ll be using her passion for scientific analysis to work towards a career in an Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)-accredited pathology laboratory.
