A stunning victory in their final match of the season saw Burnley College FC top the Association of Colleges North West league table.
The victorious team rounded off an outstanding season with a decisive 3-0 win over The Manchester College, the only team to claim points from the formidable home side this season.
Fans showed out in force to support the champions as they capped off a record-breaking run, having conceded only eight goals all season and finishing on an incredible 21 points from eight matches played.
The players included learners from across the college, representing Sport & Fitness, A Levels and ESOL courses, working as a team to finish top of the table.
Samuel Minihan, Lecturer in Sport & Fitness and Academy of Sport Football Coach, says that the team’s success is a result of their relentless dedication, drive and determination:
“This team has been exceptional all year, deservedly winning the league.
“It’s been a pleasure to coach this group with my colleague Gerry Harrison. To see our players progress both on and off the pitch has been really rewarding.
“Getting to watch them lift the trophy is a testament to their commitment and the fantastic programme we’ve built here at Burnley College.
“I look forward to seeing even more learners get involved next season!”
