Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Pre-Apprenticeship

The Engineering Pre Apprenticeship – BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering is a one year course. On this course you will study both mechanical and electrical units ensuring you have the underpinning knowledge and skills to pursue a career across multiple engineering disciplines. Alongside studying the theory for the BTEC you will work collaboratively with your peers on an industry based project. Giving you the opportunity to get hands on and manufacture components using a range of manufacturing processes including, milling, turing and 3D printing.

The course consists of theoretical and practical units, developing your knowledge and skills required to; enter employment, progress onto higher education or apply for an advanced/higher apprenticeship.

Business Pre-Apprenticeship

On this course, you will develop detailed knowledge surrounding key areas of business. You will look in detail at enterprise and the skills it takes to set up and run a successful business. Entrepreneurial knowledge and skills are key to any successful enterprise, and this course allows you to look in detail at what characteristics an entrepreneur has to ensure success. You take this further by looking in detail at how businesses are set up including the business planning process and research. Once an entrepreneur has looked into the market, it is important that they gain finance and studying on this course allows you to look at both personal and business financial management.

You will participate in a range of learning activities including independent, team work and self-directed study in our well resourced classrooms and learning hubs. You will learn how to apply the knowledge you develop in the classroom in to the business sector, through running business events and engaging with local employers. The course will help to prepare you for a career in the challenging and rewarding business sector.

Bricklaying Pre-Apprenticeship (Construction)

This programme is for those learners who wish to pursue a career as an apprentice, but as yet have not gained employment within the industry area of their choice.

The programme will enable you to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and behaviours to aid your progression into employment as an apprentice in your chosen trade area. You can choose to study from a range of vocational areas, including; Electrical installation, Plumbing, Carpentry and Joinery, Furniture, Brickwork, Plastering and Painting and Decorating.

You will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of practical skills, underpinned by supporting theory studies. Development of Maths and English skills will also be included in your study programme.

Assessment will be by completion of a theory portfolio and a range of practical end tests in our industry standard workshop facilities.

Carpentry & Joinery/Furniture Pre-Apprenticeship (Construction)

The programme will enable you to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and behaviours to aid your progression into employment as an apprentice in your chosen trade area. You can choose to study from a range of vocational areas, including; Electrical installation, Plumbing, Carpentry and Joinery, Furniture, Brickwork, Plastering and Painting and Decorating.

You will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of practical skills, underpinned by supporting theory studies. Development of Maths and English skills will also be included in your study programme.
Assessment will be by completion of a theory portfolio and a range of practical end tests in our industry standard workshop facilities.

Electrical Installation Pre-Apprenticeship (Construction)

This programme is for those learners who wish to pursue a career as an apprentice, but as yet have not gained employment within the industry area of their choice. The programme will enable you to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and behaviours to aid your progression into employment as an apprentice in your chosen trade area. You can choose to study from a range of vocational areas, including; Electrical installation, Plumbing, Carpentry and Joinery, Furniture, Brickwork, Plastering and Painting and Decorating. You will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of practical skills, underpinned by supporting theory studies.

Covering a wide scope of horticultural practices, the course aims to give learners a work-like experience of performing practical horticultural tasks before progressing onto an Apprenticeship. Work placement at a local horticultural project will provide a platform to practice new skills and may lead to a reference or extended placement and level 2 qualification. Learners will build on their professionalism with the course emphasising Health and Safety, teamwork and communication throughout.

Horticulture and Gardening (Level 2) Pre-Apprenticeship

Covering a wide scope of horticultural practices, the course aims to give learners a work-like experience of performing practical horticultural tasks before progressing onto an Apprenticeship. Work placement at a local horticultural project will provide a platform to practice new skills and may lead to a reference or extended placement and level 2 qualification. Learners will build on their professionalism with the course emphasising Health and Safety, teamwork and communication throughout.

Sport & Fitness (Level 1) Pre-Apprenticeship

Covering a wide scope of sport and fitness, the course aims to give learners a work-like experience of the industry before progressing onto an Apprenticeship. Work placement at a local sport or fitness centre will provide a platform to practice new skills and may lead to a reference or extended placement and qualification. Learners will build on their professionalism with the course emphasising vocational learning which is specific to the sector. The course is designed to give you introductory knowledge of the various sectors including Sports, Coaching, Health and Nutrition and Fitness. Your studies will help you develop your self-confidence and wider knowledge of the Sports sector ready for progression onto an apprenticeship.

Sport & Fitness (Level 2) Pre-Apprenticeship

Covering a wide scope of the sport and fitness industry, the course aims to give learners a work-like experience before progressing onto an Apprenticeship. Work placement at a local sport or fitness centre will provide a platform to practice new skills and may lead to a reference or extended placement and level 2 qualification. Learners will build on their professionalism with the course emphasising vocational learning specific to Sports sector. Units are designed to give you intermediate knowledge of the various sectors including Sports, Coaching, Health and Nutrition and Fitness. Your studies will help you develop your self-confidence and wider knowledge of the sports and fitness sector ready for progression onto an apprenticeship.
