About this vacancy

Dobson and Beaumont specialise in the manufacture of roll threaded studs and bolts in high tensile alloys and stainless steels in sizes from 3mm to 100mm diameter and in any standard or non-standard thread form. With the growth of the company they are wanting to recruit an Engineering Apprentice to join the Thread Rolling department.

The role will be in our thread rolling and centerless grinding departments being the final process in manufacturing high precision parts for automotive, wind turbines, general engineering, engines.  Some of the high prestige customers include high performance and Formula 1 cars.

Duties/main responsibilties include:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Methodical approach to all tasks
• Attention to detail to ensure parts are correct to 0.025 of a mm in some cases. This attention to detail to extend to written tasks to ensure traceability maintained.
• Pride in quality of work, rather than volume of work
• Confidence in own ability so that once trained, would be happy to set and run a machine on their own
• Mathematical ability to read tables and measuring equipment

Training would be mainly through existing operators, although thread rolling would involve some external training as well. The business has a philosophy of developing its employees as much as possible so development in other areas is possible.

Working week

Monday – Thursday 7:45am to 16:45pm/ Friday 7:45 to 12:45 (Overtime is available)
