They provide protection, maintenance and support for a broad range of domestic products and consumer electronics, ranging from televisions to washing machines to boilers. There is an exciting new opportunity for 2 Electrical Control Panel Builder Apprentices to join the D&G Electrical Engineering team at their site in Blackburn.

Personal characteristics they are looking for include:

  • Self-motivated & keen to learn
  • Interested in control automation & development of future control systems
  • Punctual & Reliable
  • Work well both as part of a team and individually
  • Be prepared to travel both in the UK & Worldwide
  • Must be well presented and possess good interpersonal skills
  • Hold clean UK driving license (preferrable but not mandatory)
  • Hold valid Passport

Duties/main responsibilties include:

The general role:

  • Work & become part of an established skilled Electrical Engineering team within the Company.
  • Attend Burnley College (Themis – day release), to attain BTEC & HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
  • Learn to handle & utilise all project & process materials.
  • Learn to handle both hand & power tools required to carry out the business of the Company.
  • Learn to read & implement complex instructions from technical project documents.
  • Learn to mark out, mechanically cut/drill & assemble electrical control panels & assemblies.
  • Learn to wire complex control panels/systems for various automation applications.
  • Learn to electrically equip & commission various types of automation machinery both within the UK & Worldwide.
  • Adopt, Implement & Comply with all Company & Site Health & Safety requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers & customers.
  • Provide support to production department/team.
  • Plan, organise and manage work in conjunction with the production team to required timescales.
  • Standard Hours of work 07:00–16:30 Mon-Thu & 08:00-12:00 Fri (40hrs/Week).
  • 20 days flexible Holidays (Plus 8 x statutory bank holidays) per year.
  • Rate of pay hourly, with over-time rates paid at x1.5 & x2, for time worked outside of standard hours.

Working week

Monday – Thursday  7AM – 4:30PM

Friday 8AM – 12PM
