A research project which delved into attitudes surrounding Maths and how these can influence achievement has earned an ambitious Burnley College student a British Science Association CREST Award.
Fatima Bee (17), who studies A Level Economics, Chemistry and Further Maths, is a former student at Skipton Girls’ High School and lives in Nelson.
To gain the award she completed a Nuffield Research Placement investigating “Which Demographic Factors affect Attitudes towards Mathematics?”
And being a CREST award holder means Fatima is eligible to nominate her project for a place at the UK Young Scientists and Engineers' Fair – The Big Bang.
Students are encouraged to carry out research into the subjects that fascinate them, with the support of their Tutors, helping them to gain an in-depth knowledge which will allow them to excel at interviews for places at some of the UK's top universities or for successful careers.
