Sport and Exercise Science student Shannon earns World Kick Boxing title

A talented and highly-motivated Burnley College Sixth Form Students has become the World Champion Kick Boxer in her age group after triumphing against some of the top young kick boxers from across the globe.

This achievement is the latest in a long line of kick boxing success for Shannon Bacon, who is studying Advanced Level Sport Science, and is planning a career in sports therapy after studying at university. She has already competed across the world, securing world titles and gold medals since she took up the sport 11 years ago.

Shannon, who is 18 and from Stacksteads, is a former pupil at  Fearns Community College. She earned her place in the world championships after securing the national title in Bradford and next year will start competing in the Adult categories of contest.

Shannon trains up to 30 hours a week and is a member of Alf's Blackbelt Academy, Stacksteads, where she also helps other aspiring young kick boxers to reach their full potential.
