Cover star Carla unveils latest Themis Careers Magazine at successful 2019 Apprenticeship Event

The latest edition of the popular Themis Careers Magazine, one of the North West’s leading Apprenticeship magazines, was unveiled before a large audience at the 2019 Themis Apprenticeship Careers Event at Burnley College.

The high-quality magazine contains invaluable advice for potential Apprentices, Employer profiles and inspirational reports on current Themis Apprentices who are forging successful careers in their chosen industries and are on course to come a #futureboss. It is published twice a year and distributed to secondary schools and Employers across the region.

The magazine launch was one of the highlights of the 2019 Themis Apprenticeship Careers Event, which drew potential Apprentices from across East Lancashire and beyond to meet more than 35 leading Employers in a wide variety of sectors, including Safran Nacelles and Dr Oetker; gain vital advice on their options from the professional and knowledgeable Themis Team and meet industry expert Themis Trainers.

Themis Business Solutions Manager Paul Sharples led the unveiling ceremony with magazine cover star Carla Birtwistle (21), from Accrington. Carla is one of the pioneering Project Digital Apprentices, taking advantage of the innovative partnership between Themis at Burnley College and +24 Marketing to create a forward-thinking training problem, provided by industry experts, to launch her career in Social Media at Group First Global Ltd, Padiham.

The ceremony was attended by a group of high calibre Year 11 Themis Gold potential Apprentices, who had successfully completed a selection process to earn an exclusive preview of the event; a Themis Gold pack including business cards, a folder and gold pen; and on-going additional specialist support in helping them achieve their career goals.

Paul Sharples said:

“Once again the Themis Apprenticeship Careers Event has been a great success for Employers and potential Apprentices alike. It is now firmly established in the calendar as a key event for those Employers seeking the very best Apprentices and those young people who have their sights firmly set on career success in their chosen sectors.

“Themis at Burnley College is dedicated to ensuring our Apprentices are among the most skilled and motivated in the country. As the cover star of our latest magazine, Carla, is an inspiration to many young people considering a career in the exciting digital sector. The Project Digital Hub at the Apprenticeship Careers Event was well visited with young people and parents alike keen to discover more about the pioneering partnership between Themis and +24 Marketing to provide the driven, dedicated workforce of the future in Digital industries.”

He added:

“It was our pleasure to welcome Themis Gold candidates to a preview of the Careers Event and the launch of the latest Themis Careers Magazine. They have already shown they have the determination and drive to become great Apprentices and a #futureboss in their chosen sector and we have pledged to support them through their journey with specialist advice and guidance which will make them stand out from the crowd. Our Young Engineers were also invited to the preview and had a great opportunity to network with the leading Employers in the bespoke Aerospace Hub which featured the biggest names in the supply chain for this global industry.”

The professional Themis Team of advisors was kept busy throughout the event, offering vital advice and guidance to potential Apprentices; helping with CV writing and producing business cards. |There was also an Interview Ready zone, with outfits provided by BooHoo to help young people assemble the ideal interview outfit and a Live Stage area with talks from top motivational speaker Michael Quigley, who also led question-and-answer sessions with a panel of Higher and Degree Apprentices and key staff about their experiences.
