A group of talented A Level Film Studies students at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre headed to Manchester to see an award-winning documentary on legendary singer Amy Winehouse.
The students, in the final year of their course, took the opportunity to visit Home, Manchester, to take part in Approaches to Documentary: Amy. The session, which included a full screening of Asif Kapadia's multi-award winning documentary, was led by Dr Kirsty Fairclough, Dean of Studies at the University of Salford.
The students took part in critical analysis and debate as part of the day and enjoyed the opportunity to explore their views with experts in the field of film studies, using the theory and knowledge they have learnt in the classroom.
One of the Burnley College Sixth Form Centre students attending, Joel Johnson, was inspired to create some artwork after seeing the acclaimed documentary and, after posting his creation on Twitter, received a 'like' from Asif Kapadia himself!
