Welcome back to College! After two weeks of relaxation and a time free from timetabled classes and revision, it’s time to get back to the important business of gaining the grades you need to succeed.
Getting back into your routine can be difficult, so we’ve put together some top tips to help you feel confident and positive about 2018. Whether you’re about to begin revising for your A Levels or you have another year (or two) with us, this is an important time of year for fresh starts, new motivation and big ideas!
Plan your monthly goals
January is a great time to sit down and plan the goals you have for each month of the year. One per month is more than enough, although some people swear by having two or three in different areas of their lives. Think about what you want to achieve this year and break it down into monthly manageable chunks. You’ll be surprised what you can do!
Get a calendar, or a calendar app, or a diary and use it. There is nothing more demoralising or demotivating that realising too late that you’ve forgotten to prepare for an important test, study for a presentation you’ve been working on or even that you’ve let a birthday slide under the net. Your work is important but so is your social life, so make sure you note down all of the plans you make with friends as well as the deadlines set for you at College to make sure you’re balancing your time well.
Think about what you want
Over the holidays, we bet you were asked what you want to do at university or in work roughly one hundred thousand times. There is every chance you simply don’t know yet, but now might be the perfect time to start thinking about what you really want, while you’re rested and feeling good about the opportunities the New Year has in store for you.
Speak to your tutor
If you’re thinking about pushing yourself a bit further this year, your tutor will know exactly how to help you achieve your potential. Email them or drop in to see them at any time.
Make 2018 your year. Come in and seize the day!
