Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme can change lives

Extra-curricular activities play an important part of life at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre.

They are the ideal opportunity for students to develop existing skills, find a new passion in life and, vitally, they help our students stand out from the crowd when applying for much sought after places at top universities and stepping on to the career ladder in industries where competition is fierce.

We're proud to work with the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme nationally to provide a range of amazing opportunities to help our students push their boundaries, grow in confidence and develop useful skills - as well as having lots of fun in the process.

The scheme is open to young people aged 14 to 24. Millions of young people in the UK have already taken part in the world’s leading youth achievement award.

Here at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre we offer students the opportunity to complete their Bronze and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards which involve elements of volunteering, physical challenges, skills, and an expedition. Students completing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award also complete a residential programme.

Put simply, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme is about helping students along the path to a productive and prosperous future. Many of those who have completed the scheme describe it as 'life changing'.
