Theatre and Performance students will be performing this Saturday 7 October from 10.30am – 4pm in Burnley town center as a centrepiece performance for Burnley Literary Festival.

Aiming to engage children’s imaginations through storytelling, the group of first class students will be performing an abridged street theatre version of Romeo and Juliet throughout the day, performing as different characters and telling tales as those characters. Children visiting the festival will also be able to take part in drama games with the children, including a "story scientist" activity, where children create their own stories and the Theatre and Performance troupe will act them out live.

Outstanding Burnley College Sixth Form Centre A Level tutor Sarah Crossley will also be hosting literary workshops, where creative individuals can brush up their fiction writing skills. The following workshops will take place in the Burnley Literary Festival pop-up venue in Charter Walk Shopping Centre:

For fans of French literature and the most romantic language in the world, outstanding Burnley College Sixth Form Centre A Level French tutor Alison Gander will be hosting a special session on translation and comprehension. It promises to be an interesting insight into the multicultural layers of modern Paris. 

Translating Texts from Multicultural Paris

Friday 6 October, 12.30pm

Hosted at Burnley Central Library, free admission. This session is suitable for students and anyone with an interest in France and the French language.
