The Lancashire Science Festival: Burnley Edition event went off with a flash, whizz, bang on Saturday 18 June as hundreds of youngsters and their families descended on the College campus for an action packed day of Science-based fun.

Hosted by the one and only Titan the Robot, the event had more than 50 activities for visitors to get involved with, from drone flying and Laser Tag to cell cookie making, hands-on anatomical surgery and bug hotel building.

Burnley College Sixth Form Centre and UCLan Burnley tutors put their scientific knowledge to the test and came up with unique eye-popping activities for young scientists and engineers to get excited about STEM with. The event was also visited by Lancashire Fire Service, who put on explosive demonstrations throughout the day, and Flash Bang Science whose caravan of scientific experiments and discoveries was packed all afternoon with budding scientists.

One popular activity was the Fantastic Contraption Virtual Reality room, where visitors could get to grips with VR technology using brand new HTC Vive equipment. Burnley College Sixth Form Centre and UCLan Burnley would like to thank everybody who visited for helping to make the day such a massive success.
