Nelson FC Youth Scholarships will be made available through Burnley College Academy of Sport and Nelson FC will also use the College’s state-of-the-art Human Performance Centre as their main training centre.
The exciting pairing of Nelson FC and Burnley College Academy of Sport was made official in a recent meeting between Academy of Sport programme leader Bradley Pates, Head of Division Karen Pates, Chairman of Nelson FC Fayyaz Ahmed MBE and Chief Executive Adam Keizer.
Creating incredible opportunities for the local footballers of tomorrow, members of the Nelson FC Youth Scholarships will receive professional coaching alongside an outstanding full-time academic course at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre.
Youth Scholarships with the Burnley College Academy of Sport enable talented young athletes to experience high-level training and coaching in state-of-the-art facilities while simultaneously benefitting from outstanding teaching and support throughout their academic studies.
The programme also aims to provide access to financial support towards training and competitions and gives members free physiotherapy, nutritional advice and a tailored physical conditioning and training programme.
Working in conjunction with Nelson FC, the Burnley College Academy of Sport Youth Scholarships will give athletes the opportunity to make full use of the excellent facilities available at Nelson Football Club as well as the facilities at Burnley College which include a UEFA standard full size 3G football pitch and Olympic standard strength and conditioning room, sports massage, rehabilitation and performance analysis suite within the newly opened Human Performance Centre.

Chairman of Nelson FC Fayyaz Ahmed MBE said of the new partnership:

Our Youth Scholars will get the chance to play in the Northwest Youth Alliance League as well as the FA Youth Cup and the facilities and education on offer at Burnley College are outstanding. It's a huge opportunity for local young footballers and also an exciting partnership for the whole of Burnley and Pendle in terms of football youth development."
