Get a fresh, vertical perspective on our specialist climbing wall.

In case you didn’t already know, students at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre are adept at creating their own special interest groups. From the well-attended and fiercely competitive Debate Club to the new and exciting digital world of the Raspberry Pi Club, the College welcomes students with abilities and skills from all areas to set up extra-curricular clubs to get everyone involved. One of our most popular clubs is the Climbing Club. From 12pm – 1pm every Thursday, students and qualified climbing instructors visit the Burnley College Sixth Form Centre climbing wall in the Sports Centre to show off their skills. The group meet to exchange tips, show off their gear and share routes and everyone is welcome, from beginners to more advanced climbers. The wall, which towers over the parquet at 10 meters tall with an overhang and cave, is open to all students for free. Keen climbing enthusiast, Creative Media student and young film maker James Pinder made this fantastic video about the Climbing Club. Watch it to meet some of the group members and find out how easy it is to get started! Ready to get started? Take a look at this guide from the British Mountaineering Council on how to talk the talk: www.thebmc.co.uk/climbing-how-to-talk-the-talk Now you’re all set. What are you waiting for? Head to the Sports Centre and speak to Julia Kelly. Alternatively, you can email Julia on j.kelly@burnley.ac.uk.
