Burnley College hosts the first Chemistry at Work event!

Burnley College Sixth Form Centre was delighted to welcome over 100 outstanding students from ten local secondary schools to participate in the Chemistry at Work event yesterday. Joining forces with STEMfirst, the Royal Chemistry Society, Cogent and NSG, this will be the first event of its type for Burnley College Sixth Form Centre. Lewis Maddran Lewis Maddran (pictured above) Chemistry lecturer at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre, who is also a STEM Ambassador said of the event “This is an excellent opportunity for students currently studying for their GCSEs to gain a more hands on experience of Chemistry and get the opportunity to speak to influential people within the industry.” FullSizeRender (00000018) Students carried out a variety of exciting ‘green chemistry’ experiments in the Science hub using our state of the art science equipment, take part in the a nuclear chemistry workshop which gave the students hands on experience and also took a closer look at careers available to chemists of the future with the help of Cogent.
