posted on
Outstanding Burnley College Sixth Form Centre student Aneila Afsar brushed aside some the best Taekwondo athletes in the country to win the British International Open in London. The A Level student bulldozed her way to the final, winning her quarter final clash by a staggering 18-0. The semi-final was another one-sided affair, with Aneila beating her opponent by 17-5. The final against Hollie Best-Dutton of the TKD Academy in Liverpool proved her toughest test, though she overcame a strong opponent and high pressure to win the Gold by a final score of 10-7. The Team GB junior athlete is now looking to gain sponsorship from businesses across East Lancashire and beyond to allow her stunning rise to the top of British Taekwondo to continue after she graduates from the Youth ranks.
